What Happened to Society?

In 1903, the largest man in the world at the time doesn't seem like something too much out of the ordinary for nowadays. In fact, its almost normal for people to be obese. What do we have to blame? Di we care less now? Do we not know any better? or is it just because unhealthy food is pretty cheap? How does it make any sense that we can buy a double cheese burger from McDonalds for $1 when an apple can be anywhere up to $1 a pound? Chances are if you are hungry and want the most out of your dollar, you would go for the cheese burger because it will actually fill your stomach. How do we stop this trend that seems to be on the rise?

  1. This picture caught my attention! It is scary to think that everyday people (including people involved in the government) are larger than the largest man in the world in 1903. I think that many places are at least putting the option of a healthier meal or snack but as you said, many of the options are more expensive. A lot of people complain that it is hard to eat healthy because it takes a lot more time and money, but that isn't necessarily true. Just because healthy eating may be expensive , one doesn't have to eat fruits and yogurts and granola, they can just not get the McDonalds or KFC. It's a really complicated thought , good questions!

  3. I totally agree with your article Bri. I think the quality of food that they sell at places like McDonald's is very poor. The meat cannot be healthy if its so cheap. We need to crack down on the items that we make so accessible for people and maybe the obesity rate would go down. The extremes in our society are insane; people are either obsessed with being thin or they just let themselves go.
